The NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announ ce the availability of the following University of North Florida Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) training courses:

Pedestrian and bicycle crashes are one of the most freque nt types of injurious crashes in urban areas. Because of their unique natur e, special techniques are required to investigate and reconstruct these inc idents. This course addresses the special dynamics involved in pedestrian a nd bicycle traffic crashes. From reaction times to victim injury analysis t o environmental factors, you’ll learn to recognize and interpret the eviden ce and correlate it with the collision sequence.

IPTM Investigation of Motorcycle Crashes

The class is designe d to prepare law enforcement officers in the concepts and principles of inv estigating a motorcycle crash. The training includes classroom presentation s and projects. Mandatory prerequisites for attending the training are list ed below:

Cost:
There is no registr ation fee. Travel costs including meals, hotels, and transportation will no t be provided.
Pre-Registration is required. All interested pa rties must register at least two weeks before the course as seats are limit ed. The location of training, class times, and safety guidelines will be pr ovided through an email confirmation; those who do not register will not re ceive this important notification and will not be admitted to the training. Walk-ins and transferring of confirmation notices will not be permitted. A dditionally, contact information provided (email and phone number) on the r egistration form will be used in the event contact tracing is required. Be sure to provide the best contact information as circumstances may require c ontact outside normal business days or hours. Providing this information se rves as consent for Division use for contract tracing purposes only.

Important Safety Measures
The safety and wellbeing of the trainin g participants, instructors, venue staff, and DCJS staff are of the utmost importance during the current pandemic, therefore DCJS will be implementing a number of safety protocols for all DCJS hosted events. In addition to fo llowing general Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and NYS Department of Hea lth guidelines on proper health hygiene, all attendees, instructors, and DC JS staff will be required to: complete a daily electronic health screening before the scheduled start time of the training; wear a mask or face coveri ng at all times when in a classroom, venue or within six feet of another pe rson outside of the venue; practice social distancing; utilize the same sea ting space for the duration of the training, and follow all safety protocol s established by the hosting venue.
Failure to comply w ith these guidelines will result in removal from the training and premises and the attendee’s agency will be notified. The Division reserves the right to follow up with any attendee or agency in the event of a failure to noti fy DCJS staff of trainee absence, likewise, attendees must notify DCJS staf f of any absence after the commencement of training. Trainees must also not ify DCJS staff of exposure to COVID-19 or a positive COVID-19 test result w ithin 14 days after the culmination of training.
The Div ision will consult with the hosting venue to ensure proper cleaning/disinfe cting of the classroom before each training day. Cleaning supplies will be made available during the entire training day to be used on an as-needed ba sis.
Seating is limited. Therefore, you must receive a c onfirmation of attendance. Please complete the course application and have it sent no later than three weeks before the start of the course.
