IPTM Traffic Crash Reconstruction Course - Oneida Co.

The NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce the availability of a University of North Florida Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) Traffic Crash Reconstruction Course. The course is an intensive 10-day training class scheduled in the Oneida County May 9-13 and May 16-20, 2022.  The class is designed to prepare law enforcement officers in the concepts and principles of crash reconstruction. The training includes classroom presentation and workshops. Mandatory prerequisites for attending the training are listed below:

Topics include: 

  • Derivation and origin of the commonly used speed formulas.
  • Speed of vehicles at impact using conservation of linear momentum.
  • Behavior of vehicles in a collision using Newton’s three laws of motion.
  • Discussions of commercial vehicle and motorcycle dynamics in collisions.
  • The determination of direction of travel, initial contact and position of vehicles on the roadway.

Prerequisite:

Successful completion of IPTM Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation Course 

OR

NYS DCJS Technical Crash Management Course

Location:  Oneida County – Oriskany N.Y.

Cost:  There is no registration fee. Travel costs including meals, hotels, and transportation will be the responsibility of the attendee.  The course was made possible through Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) funding.  

Important Safety Measures

The safety and wellbeing of the training participants, instructors, venue and DCJS staff are of the utmost importance when delivering law enforcement training. All training attendees and instructors will adhere to all health and safety protocol required by the training venue, specific guidelines, if applicable, will be outlined in the training confirmation.

Pre-Registration is required.  All interested parties must register at least two weeks prior to the course as seats are limited.  The location of training, class times and safety guidelines will be provided through an email confirmation; those who do not register will not receive this important notification and will not be admitted to the training.  Walk-ins and transferring of confirmation notices will not be permitted. Additionally, contact information provided (email and phone number) on the registration form will be used in the event contact tracing is required.  Be sure to provide the best contact information as circumstances may require contact outside normal business days or hours. Providing this information serves as consent for Division use for contract tracing purposes only.

Although we have planned for large enrollment, seats are very limited. Therefore, you must receive confirmation on attendance.
