Out-of-control SUV driver charged with manslaughter for fatally striking girl, 6, in Brooklyn crosswalk: ‘The mother wouldn’t stop crying’

A reckless Brooklyn SUV driver was charged with manslaughter after blowing through a red light and plowing into an innocent 6-year-old girl crossing the street with her now-heartbroken mother, police and witnesses said Wednesday.

Qiuhua Zhu is accused of speeding into oncoming traffic, running the light and killing little Hiromi Tami, who was only steps from her Dyker Heights home after visiting a local park with her mom around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Another eyewitness said the driver never saw the child as he whipped his Lexus GX460 SUV into the crosswalk where Hiromi was walking behind her mom.
