A Law Enforcement Guide to the NYS Election Law

September 30, 2026, please join the Division of Election Law Enforcement (DELE) of the New York State Board of Elections (NYSBOE) for A Law Enforcement Guide to the NYS Election Law. The day-long seminar focuses on NYS Election Law issues that law enforcement may encounter including common NYS Election Law violations, specific NYS Election Law restrictions on law enforcement, and special considerations for Sheriffs’ Departments. Additionally, the seminar will cover what law enforcement needs to know when responding to a call at a polling location during Primary and General Elections, including polling location setup, who is allowed in a polling location, electioneering, and limitations of a citizen’s ability to record at polling locations. Discussion will include applicable NYS Election Law, Case Law, and relevant NYSBOE Formal Opinions. This class is restricted to certified Police and Peace Officers.
