The New York State Association of Chiefs of Police (NYSACOP) Traffic Safety Team invites you to attend an in-person training titled “NYS VTL: Bicycles with Electric Assist (E-Bikes), and Electric Scooters.”

The training will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Zone 5 Regional Training Academy.

The purpose of this training is to provide an overview of current traffic safety issues, programs, related local laws and enforcement initiatives relative to the use of micro-mobility devices throughout New York State. It will also serve as an opportunity to receive feedback from participants regarding their individual efforts, challenges and experiences in this area.

The course will be instructed by Deputy Chief David Regina of the Suffolk County Police Department. Deputy Chief Regina is widely recognized as a leading subject matter expert on e-mobility issues as they relate to law enforcement operations.

We know that everyone’s time is valuable, so we will start with registration and a “meet and greet” opportunity at 8:30 AM, having the training start promptly at 9 AM.

Please RSVP to NYSACOP/GTSC LEL Frank Galerie at fgalerie@nychiefs.org

This training is limited to 50 sworn law enforcement personnel.

We look forward to seeing you then!!
