Town of Carmel Seeking New Police Chief

The Town Board of the Town of Carmel is initiating a search process for a new Chief of Police. The Chief’s position is expected to lead the Police Department in its continual pursuit of excellence in Law Enforcement and Public Service.  The Town Board of the Town of Carmel is accepting letters of interest along with a resume seeking interested and qualified candidates from both internal and external sources so as to develop a comprehensive pool of candidates. All interested candidates must reside in Putnam, Westchester, Dutchess, or Rockland Counties to be considered for the Position.  

Experience:

All interested candidates must have served at a command level in both leadership and management at the rank of “Lieutenant” or higher level.

The Town of Carmel Police Department consists of forty-two (42) full-time staff with thirty-five (35) sworn officers, five (5) civilian dispatchers and two (2) clerical positions.

The rank structure of the Police Department is Chief, with two (2) Lieutenants, patrol and administrative, six (6) Patrol Sergeants and One (1) Detective Sgt., three (3) Detectives and twenty-two (22) Police Officers.
